ABOUT

Rudy Ludy Founder Claire Frieling.

Claire Frieling

I am a Graphic Designer from London who has worked predominately in the Fashion and Beauty Industries designing Advertising, Catalogs and In-store Graphics. I was inspired by this environment to start ‘Rudy Ludy’ as a fun and creative sideline in 2005, originally making applique women’s clothing and selling my wares at the Portobello Market in London and at Music Festivals. The name came from a nickname given to me by an old work friend (Thanks Matt!) and was inspired by my maiden name, Ludeman.

I met my husband in Thailand in 2006 and moved to Chicago shortly afterwards. When pregnant with our first child we didn’t know the sex so I started designing unisex baby clothing. I wasn’t too excited by all the white and yellow ducky stuff that was out there at the time so started designing fun colorful designs that either sex would look trendy and cute in. We now have 2 sons and still love creating unisex designs as well as designs especially for boys or girls.

I love designing clothing for babies and kids. It just suits my design style! Innovative and creative, bold, bright and fun. Influences come from everywhere and everything from music, art, movies, TV, travel, nature, magic and nostalgia. My own two boys are excellent models! Recently I have started Designing Women’s wear again. Rudy Ludy values fair trade, peace, and the protection of the environment. Printing onto sweatshop-free 100% cotton American Apparel clothing. Top quality ethical threads in fantastic styles and colors and MADE IN AMERICA!

About a year ago I purchased a Silhouette Cameo machine and am super excited to be able to make one-off unique creations whenever I want! More personalized clothing coming day by day! (A Silhouette is a cutting machine which links up to my computer so I can print my unique designs onto Heat Transfer Vinyl, making small rounds or completely one-off designs.)

Send me a message if you have a request that you don’t see on my shop yet. I can make a design to suit any theme or occasion.
